Hi, I’m Kira!

When I first came to PAWS with my sister Bindi, the world felt pretty big and scary. Fast forward to now, and I’ve blossomed into a confident, curious, and downright amazing dog. I’ve discovered that new places, people, and experiences are actually pretty great — especially when they come with a treat tax.

I’ve been thriving in my foster homes, and every one of my fosters has said how wonderful and good-natured I am. With just a few head scratches and some patience, I warm up quickly and turn into a total sidekick. I love having a fellow pup to play with, and my doggy manners have improved massively — I’ve become polite and respectful when meeting new friends, even though my heart still says “play with everyone!”

I’m incredibly smart, catch on very quickly, and am so eager to please. I’ve been working on loose leash walking, impulse control, and recall, and I’m excelling at them. My fosters say I’m a fantastic snuggler, a great listener, and happy to just hang out at home as much as I love adventuring. I’ve even conquered things I used to find scary, like water and cardboard boxes — now I’m practically a mermaid and nothing holds me back as long as I have a confident person by my side.

I’m super active and built for speed, so I’d be an incredible biking, hiking, or adventure buddy. But when the day winds down, I’m just as happy curled up by the window or at your feet.

I could thrive as the only dog in the home, but I’d also do fantastic with a confident dog buddy who likes to play and can keep showing me the ropes. I came from a home with children, so I’d be fine with respectful kids aged 13+, but a busy, noisy home with lots of little ones would likely overwhelm me. Sweet and calm older kids who understand I can be a bit shy at first would be perfect.

Adopting me is a 15+ year commitment. I’ll need regular vet care, positive reinforcement training, high-quality food, and a safe, loving home where I can keep learning and living life to the fullest.

If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, adventure-ready companion who has already proven to be the “almost perfect” houseguest, I think we’d make a pretty great team.
