Pemberton Animal Well-being Society (PAWS) was founded to provide support and relief to cats and dogs in need. PAWS accepts stray, lost and surrendered cats and dogs from Pemberton and surrounding communities, as one of only two shelters serving the area from Whistler to Lillooet…although we are small, we are mighty!
In 2024 PAWS became a Registered Charity, we receive assistance from the Squamish Lillooet Regional District, Village of Pemberton, local businesses and community members that support our work through donations. PAWS relies on the support of our community to continue to succeed in ensuring the safety of, and finding forever homes for cats and dogs in our local area. You can help through donation, volunteering, fostering or adoption.
The PAWS Mission Statement:
To promote the welfare of animals for the benefit of the public by:
– spaying or neutering domestic pets, and/or feral or stray animals;
– rescuing and temporarily housing stray, abandoned, abused, or surrendered animals;
– operating an animal fostering and adoption program; and
– educating the public on the proper care of domestic animals.
