Hi, I’m Scout!
I was brought to PAWS as a stray after roaming the local area on my own for a couple of weeks, and a kind community member wanted to make sure I got somewhere safe. I’m estimated to be around four years old, and I’m currently taking some time to decompress and settle after a period of being on my own.
I’m a very sweet, affectionate boy who loves people. I’m happiest when I’m close to my humans, soaking up cuddles and reassurance. I’m gentle, soft-natured, and have a calm presence about me. Right now, I’m still adjusting and can be a little sad at times, but with kindness and consistency, my personality is already starting to shine through more each day.
I’m recovering from some facial injuries and a few smaller nicks and scrapes from my time wandering, but I’m being well cared for and healing nicely. On leash, I’ve been doing great — I walk politely and calmly and have shown very good manners so far. I’m well behaved and easy to be around, and I truly just want to be near my people.
I haven’t been fully tested with kids or other dogs yet, but I’ve seen both and don’t seem particularly bothered. I’m also around cats at the shelter and mostly ignore them. What matters most to me is feeling safe and connected with my humans. Because of that, I’m looking for a calm, dog-savvy home that understands I may need some time to learn that being left alone doesn’t mean being abandoned. With patience, routine, and reassurance, I know I’ll continue to relax and gain confidence.
I’m looking for a home that can offer stability, understanding, and lots of love. I’m a gentle, affectionate boy who just wants to belong and will make a wonderful companion for the right person or family.
Could that be you?
