Hello and so happy you’re here, I’m Roo!
I’m the bounciest, sweetest girl who hasn’t had the easiest start in life. I came to PAWS when my owner had some unexpected life changes and could no longer provide me with the life I deserve. At just 7 months old, it has been a big adjustment coming to live at the shelter. However, the very kind people at PAWS have shown me I don’t need to be scared.
Adjusting to shelter life has been stressful, and I’m currently on anti-anxiety meds to help me cope with the changes. I can be a little nervous when meeting new people and might bark a little to show I am a little scared, but I can be pretty well bribed very easily with treats, and warm up pretty quickly.
I absolutely love training and am so eager to please; I’m very smart and food motivated. Having my brain worked helps so much with my anxiety, and I really am becoming the goodest girl with my new routine, lots of walks, and fun with all the volunteers! You might even say I’m like an energizer bunny—I just keep going, especially when it involves playing or learning new tricks.
With my unsettled start in life, I can find new experiences a bit overwhelming. I’m looking for a family to support me as I grow up and teach me all the life skills a dog needs to make it in the human world. Training classes, where I can show off my smarts and work with my human to become the best team, are top of my list.
I enjoy going on adventures, love car rides, and would like to do lots of exploring with my new family. After the adventures, I like to relax with a brain puzzle or two before taking a well-deserved nap with my people nearby. Due to my nervousness around new people and my bouncy nature, I would do better in a home without young children. We recommend a home with kids 15+. I adore other dogs and thrive in their company, having come from a home with multiple pets. I also came from a home with other cats, so I believe I would do well with them again if introduced correctly.
All in all, I am a wonderful, sweet girl who is just still a baby! I am going to thrive in a stable home with people who can give me the routine, exercise, and training I crave. Let’s build a life together and become best of friends. I can’t wait to receive your applications—I just know my perfect people are out there! 🐾
