Juno…someone’s cup of tea, she just prefers coffee!

Juno is an almost two-year-old Saint Bernard mix with 100lbs of affection, enthusiasm and absolutely no concept of personal space.

She believes she is a lap dog, considers belly rubs a basic human responsibility, and has a suspicious interest in whatever is happening on your kitchen counter. She’s clever, curious and full of beans!

A big personality with a lot to learn

Juno hasn’t had much structure in her early life, so she’s still learning the rules of living in a home. She’s smart enough to learn quickly, but also smart enough to look for loopholes. Counter surfing and garbage diving are particular favourites.

Her future family will need to manage tempting opportunities, establish routines and use consistent positive training to help her succeed. Giving her too much freedom too soon won’t do her any favours.

Juno has medium-to-high energy, but she’s more of a sniff and stroll girlie than a marathon runner. She enjoys fetch, play sessions and exploring the world with her nose. Scent games and enrichment activities are excellent ways to keep her clever brain occupied (before she finds her own entertainment).

Currently working on her leash manners, Juno can get frustrated when she wants to greet every human and dog she passes, and she does have a strong chase instinct around cats, birds and squirrels, so a cat-free home and careful management around small animals are essential.

Her Ideal Home

Juno needs a family ready to help her learn how to settle, respect boundaries and become a successful member of the household. She won’t arrive ready-made, and her adopters should expect to make adjustments, provide structure and actively guide her rather than hoping she’ll figure it all out herself.

Small children are not a suitable match for her size and enthusiasm, although older, grown kids may be considered in the right home.

She has lived with another dog, moving forward canine companions are considered case by case, with a focus on the family understanding the realities of a multi-dog household, including thoughtful introductions, supervision and separate spaces so both dogs can relax and thrive.

Juno is affectionate, entertaining, and full of potential. She needs someone patient, consistent and kind…someone who understands that helping a young dog grow takes time, and that management is part of setting her up for success. In return she’ll bring plenty of personality, enthusiastic companionship and a daily reminder to secure the kitchen bin.
